A friend said this about these locks "this must be the hair of the Icelandic Huldufolk or hidden folk which are the elves and trolls and such" that hide in the rugged landscape.I see them as warm and moody and inviting.Some locks are 4-6 inches long with wispy thin guard hairs and some are shorter and quite kinky.
